Book Launch – Getting To The Core – Chez Valenti

Getting To The Core Book Launch

Hosted by: Skoobs Theatre of Books

Because of the numerous book launches I attend, I’m never sure what I will encounter on arrival at Skoobs. It is most likely that I have not read the book, nor previously met the author. Essentially, I am going in blind. Afterall, the purpose of the launch is to be inspired to purchase the book. Being able to meet and chat with the author (who is then available to sign the purchased book) is the bonus. So, imagine my surprise when I arrived and saw at least 50 people were already at Skoobs, chatting with each other, sipping champagne and nibbling on the bountiful array of snacks! This number only increased as the evening progressed. Then I met the author and could understand the amazing turnout at this event. Chez Valenti is an extrovert deluxe! Of Italian descent, Mr Valenti displays an energetic and outgoing personality and shows the love and enthusiasm he obviously feels for life, his family, work and book. Turns out that this launch was a double celebration as it was also the author’s birthday! Happy Birthday, Mr Valenti!

Mr Valenti is a hypnotherapist in private practice, a certified practitioner registered with the South African Institute of Hypnosis and a member of the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association (USA). He has studied widely but it was a personal experience which brought him to the field of regression hypnotherapy. The MC for the evening, Louise Mowbray, noted some of her experiences with Chez before introducing first Warren Scott (aka Rabbi Zeev Kraines) who was instrumental in compiling and editing the book and then Mr Valenti. Warren Scott is a freelance author who has known Chez for many years as a ‘man with a heart who wants to help people unchain themselves from their shackles’. Meeting up with Chez again was a form of synergy which has resulted in the book being launched.

Overall, it was a fascinating evening, full of energy and excitement! I finally managed to grab a few minutes with the author and here are a few of the things we chatted about (sumarised into my own words):

Q: What made you move into the field of regression hypnotherapy in particular?

A: After struggling with a phobia of hospitals for many years, and trying different methods to get over the phobia, a colleague recommended that I visit a regression hypnotherapist. This practitioner helped me discover a long-forgotten experience from my childhood which I was then able to see as a recurring pattern in my life. The resolution of the issue spurred me onto further investigation and study and then onto helping others. However, the issue could only be resolved after the core of the problem had been found.

Q: How do you see your role as a practicioner?

A: The process of healing is possible when people accept that the help is within themselves and that patterns can be shifted. My favourite analogy is that of a stone tossed into the pond. The stone causes ripples on the surface but sinks to the bottom. Addressing the ripples may soothe the problem (and sometimes this is appropriate) but what about the stone which just sits at the bottom of the pond? This is the root of the problem and it is that which must be removed. My passion is helping people to find the stone and then addressing whatever it represents. Afterall, we all deserve peace and happiness!

Q: Why has it taken 3 years to complete the book?

A: I am a very energetic person! It is difficult for me to sit still long enough to be able to tackle a task such as this. With a family and businesses to run, time is at a premium. However, I felt inspired to write this book and Warren Scott was instrumental in making that happen.

Q: Why did you use Warren Scott to compile and edit the book?

A: I have too much to say and because I work in the field, I often use terms which are scientific or specific to hypnotherapy. Warren not only helped translate the science when it cropped up, he has also made the book into an easy and understandable read. This truly would not be the book it is without his help. Also, I am much better at speaking than writing!

Q: Warren is a Rabbi – did this factor in?

A: Not at all. This subject has no religious affiliation. Hypnotherapy is a tool to be used by anyone, of any belief system. It is about getting to the root of a problem to be able to resolve it and thus live a life of peace and happiness.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: Firstly, there will be a second book – hopefully taking less time to write! I am taking a sabbatical from my practice during which I will be doing workshops and seminars. In this way I hope to be able to help a greater number of people – happier citizens = happier society!

Chez Valenti is certainly a very charismatic person and by all accounts, one who truly believes in the power of Getting to the Core. This was an amazing launch, filled with people who were excited about the book and the author. Look out for my review of ‘Getting to the Core’ on our website soon.
