Mystery Thriller Week 2017

Mystery Thriller Week

Weeks of Scheduling Reviews.

Weeks of Responding to Events.

Hours and hours of planning for attendance.

One week of the best Mystery Thriller Writers; Readers; Bloggers and Friends.

Mystery Thriller Week 2017 (MTW 2017) was one hell of a rollercoaster ride for me. Having been involved in some capacity or another wherever I could from the beginning; MTW was a real treat because I got to watch it blossom from conception. If you think a mystery book has a good build up; try helping organise an event. I didn’t do NEARLY as much as everyone else but the little I did do made me feel super proud for being a part of this event.

The actual organising aside; I have to say that the best (and hardest) part of this event was going through all the amazing books that were on offer and having to pick the few I would review. It was one of the hardest things that I had to do in my life because all I wanted was to read every single book that was up for offer. I managed to dwindle my list down to a barely manageable amount of books (considering that there were three people from my blog reviewing) and so the reading began.

You must imagine how hard this was because as reviewers we still had our review site to maintain with requests coming in every other day. Still we persevered and with a lot of hard work; long hours of reading and rather comfy chairs we managed to get our requests done so we could delve into our MTW reads. I started mine off and I was a bit worried. I had taken on a long list of books – and the thing about being a reviewer is that you never know how good the book is going to be until you’re in it. Apparently I was extremely lucky because the books I selected all turned out to be AMAZING that I really enjoyed reading. It certainly reignited my love for mystery and thriller books in a way it hasn’t been aflame in so many years.

The books weren’t the only exciting part of MTW though; as we got closer and closer to the event the founders started to send out the exciting event invites. Not only did we get to read the books but we also got to attend exciting question and answer sessions where we were able to ask the authors all sorts of questions about the books we were reading. These events were so many in number that I didn’t know which ones I wanted to attend first. Aside from that the organisers ensured that we were aware of which reviews were being posted when with an online calendar.

If that WAS NOT ENOUGH; they arranged giveaways, competitions and a host of fun other activities that happened during this one week of exciting Book-ish things. If the build up to the week of the 12th was indescribable then there are truly no words for the event itself. It was more than fun. It was the kind of event that every reviewer wants to attend; that every author wants to be a part of and that every single reader wants to attend.

I am so proud to have participated in the event and even more proud that The Blithering Bibliomaniacs won the award for most reviews submitted by a group. It was so much fun and we will most certainly be participating again next year.

Bring on MTW 2018.

On Behalf of The Blithering Bibliomaniacs this is TBBManiacSian signing off.
