Peril in the Park: Jamie Quinn Mystery, Book 3 by Barbara Venkataraman

I received an audio copy from the author in return for an honest review.

Jamie Quinn has a boyfriend and he’s in trouble. As the newly appointed director of Broward County parks, he needs to discover who is responsible for the increase in vandalism in the parks. A body is found and then Kip goes missing. Will Jamie, with the help of P.I. Duke Broussard be able to find Kip and solve the mystery before it is too late?

Barbara Venkataraman is a master in the art of plotting and telling a well-rounded mystery in as few a number of pages as possible! And yet, I am not left feeling as though the story should be longer. Told from Jamie’s point of view, the story and the characters all come together in a completely believable way, leaving no loose threads.

Carrie Lee Martz has a voice which is well-suited to this writer. Regrettably, her portrayal of the Southern male P.I. Duke has not improved from the last book. This is the only drawback on the narration. Her dramatization skills are superb and the main characters are easily differentiated during the telling of this story

This story can be read as a stand-alone, but you will be missing some wonderful tales if you do not listen to the previous Jamie Quinn stories.
