I was given an audio copy of the book in return for an honest review:
Dr Galbraith is a renowned clinical psychologist, specializing in children with psychological issues. Anthony Mailer experiences some issues when his parents separate and they take him to see the good doctor. The police are investigating ‘The Ring’, a group of pedophiles apparently living in the area. How will these facts come together and what will be the outcome?

I was a little concerned before reading this book, as the author gives a warning at the start of the book that sensitive readers may be disturbed, but decided to continue. And I am glad that I did. It is a very thought provoking story about a subject that most of us ignore – that of the sexual abuse of children. We know from the beginning that Dr Galbraith is involved with the abuse of children, but not how, or if, this will be discovered. The story unfolds through the actions of Dr Galbraith, the investigations of the police and the caring concern of a mother for her child. A riveting listen that I could not put down until the story ended. It could be read as a stand-alone, but there is a wonderful twist at the end which makes me want to move onto the next in the series. I am not a fan of novels with out-dated technology (this story is set in 1992), but this did not detract from the tale at all – in fact, it added to the suspense. I would love to know from the author why he chose this particular year in which to set his novel……
Jake Urry is wonderfully suited to the narration of this novel – his gruff voice allows the listener to become immersed in the characters in a way in which a female narrator, or any of the other male voices I have had the pleasure of listening to, would not be able to achieve. The voices are well-defined and I certainly felt a connection with the majority of the characters. This is possibly the first book I have listened to that I would not want in hard copy - well-suited to the audio format!
For lovers of the thriller genre – this is a winner.
